P4C

In P4C this week the children were thinking about and discussing the different types of weather and why they like one type of weather more than another. The children enjoyed sharing their ideas and voting by standing in different parts of the classroom.

Buddy Reading

We are very excited because our buddy reading begins next week and we have been paired with Year 5. This is an opportunity for the children to share the books they love by either reading to their year 5 buddy or having the story read to them. Please find our updated timetables below:

Maths

In Maths this week the children have been practically exploring different ways to make 10.  They have been using a variety of resources, including a part whole model to help them understand the patterns of making 10.

Here is a youtube video we have been using to remember the patterns:

REMINDER

Forest School this term is now 1B on a Friday. Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing in school for the changing weather. We are sure they are going to have lots of fun!

Next Term

Wow what a fun term it has been!

Next term we will be moving onto exploring number bonds within place value in Maths and the children will be exploring the story of the Three Little Pigs in English through a non-chronological report and  creating their own “defeating the monster” story. We will also be introducing Religious Education into our afternoon sessions and Gymnastics into our indoor PE sessions.

Forest School will be on a Friday for 1B this term.

We are so looking forward to hearing all about what the children get up to over the half term break and what challenges they set themselves from our half term homework.

Please find below our class timetables for next term.

History – WW1 and Remembrance

The children have been learning about Remembrance and WW1. We had a WW1 box delivered from the Wilson Museum and the children had a great time exploring all the artifacts and they could even try on a jacket and helmet if they wanted to. We have started to display the children’s work around the school so other year groups can see what they are learning.

Visit from a Policeman

PSHE – Keeping us Safe

Year 1 had a fantastic day learning about the Police Force from a real life Policeman. He showed them all his equipment and explained what it is used for. The children were able to ask him lots of questions and some now even want to be a policeman when they grow up!
